Peach Tree’s Fried Fish and Hush Puppies
If you find yourself in Kansas City, MO for whatever reason and your mouth is craving soul food, head straight to Peachtree Buffet, located at 6800 Eastwood Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64129!
I am not a fan of buffets by any means, so when I initially heard about the place, I was a bit skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that although the space looked like a buffet restaurant with the various sections for the respective food categories, what they were actually providing was a never-ending Sunday dinner with all the fixings.

Peach Tree’s Fresh Baked Yeast Rolls
From homemade yeast rolls to savory neck bones in gravy, I was experiencing an overload of southern excellence. There were so many standouts that I honestly can say EVERYTHING was amazing. The fried chicken was perfect in every way imaginable. The golden-brown color of the crispy exterior was packed with flavors from their in-house seasoning and had me in fried chicken heaven.

Peach Tree’s Buttermilk Fried Chicken
The largest standout for me were the beans! Lima beans, black eyed peas, and of course the owner, Mrs. Velma’s famous red beans and rice. Lord have mercy these were some of the best beans I have ever had. These were so flavorful and hearty that I paid for a huge tray of them, froze them, and flew back to Miami with them. It’s just that type of spot. Man, if I could get this in Miami, I would be big as a tractor trailer.

Peach Tree’s Creamy Mac and Cheese
All the Thanksgiving approved sides were on point, including the macaroni and cheese which had the perfect amount of elasticity and flavor to make my lactose intolerant behind go through the pain as a fair exchange for the cheesy seasoned goodness.

Peach Tree’s Freshly Fried Cat Fish
The food, which is prepared using low country traditional African American techniques, was so delicious we ate there every single day during our foodie tour of Kansas City. I couldn’t help myself and was literally eating everything available because it was that goddamn delicious.

Peach Tree’s BBQ Ribs
The fried and baked fish were each so enjoyable I honestly can’t tell you which one I liked better. The braised collard greens had me in tears when there were no more to load with the last morsel of golden baked cornbread.

Peach Tree’s amazing Collard Greens
If you are on a diet, there is a wide-ranging salad bar with baked and grilled items that you could select with their incredibly seasoned veggies.
