Art Basel is here. The European Art show’s American version has leading galleries from five continents, including significant works by masters of modern and contemporary art and the new generation of emerging stars and they’re all descending on Miami Beach! Well, those lucky enough to make it to Miami Beach this weekend are in for beautiful Miami winter weather, exciting cultural and art events, parties, bars, and above all else, the delicious international cuisine. Miami Beach currently has more Black owned restaurants than any other time in history. Visit them all if you’re going to Art Basel. Below, check out our LIVE reviews of Miami Beach Black owned eateries!
Bar One
520 West Ave Suite No. 1
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Phone: 305.763.8323
Peter Thomas has created Miami Beach’s only upscale Black restaurant, bar, and lounge! You will not regret visiting this space, as it is easily one of the beach’s most beautiful restaurants. It is many celebrities’ first option when visiting our town, and I can see why. The restaurant has an amazing menu sporting both African-American favorites and Caribbean staples with a coastal theme. Make sure you get a drink at their incredible bar, and pop in on the weekend for their brunch, which is highly celebrated. Known for its breathtaking outdoor dining, I have witnessed many cinematic sunsets dining at this upscale eatery. Check out our reviews on dinner and brunch by clicking the link below:
Fat Ronnie’s Burger Bar
1233 Lincoln Road
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Phone: (305) 308-6200
This joint takes the title of having Miami Beach’s BEST BURGER! Period. And guess what, its Black Owned. You taste the soul in each burger served due to cooks using recipes derived from an almost 100 year old family culinary tradition passed down to the current owner. While visiting, check out the family lineage memorial on the restaurant’s west end, where you can see historical Black culinary excellence. If burgers aren’t your thing, they have tasty vegan options and a turkey burger, which is my favorite thing here. Oh, and the drinks at the bar are strong, so please get you a designated driver before enjoying yourself.
GROWN – 100% Organic Restaurant and Bar
1504 Bay Road
Miami Beach, FL 33139
Phone: (786) 536-2630
If you’ve never had an organic beet juice smoothie while eating a fried pork chop and scrambled eggs, then you need to get over to GROWN. Shannon Allen’s GROWN is a full-service restaurant with amazing organic food, healthy smoothies, and a craft cocktail forward bar. Hopefully, you will see Shannon herself buzzing around the restaurant ensuring each guest is happy. She is a hands on owner that even her staff loves to have around, not to mention being a profoundly talented cook. Its rumored she will introduce more of her family recipes to her growing menu, lets hope so. An amazing human and wife of NBA Hall of Fame Inductee, Ray Allen, she is one of the city’s most dynamic food and drink entrepreneurs, and her brand is one that you find yourself coming back again and again. One of the Beach’s best fried chicken is at this outpost created by Chef Amaris Jones. Chef Jones is known for her hit cooking show on OWN network as well as being the personal chef of the biggest boss himself, Mr. Rick Ross. This space has fried chicken, homemade biscuits, chicken strips, and their bomb chicken sandwiches. The sauces and condiments are also made from scratch, you can’t go wrong here. The Original Harold’s Chicken from Chicago’s South Side has opened a post right here in Miami Beach! This Black owned fried chicken, shrimp, and fish joint has been frying up deliciousness for over 60 years. The Miami Beach location is tasty and has a pretty spirited bar. Don’t forget to get more of their iconic mild sauce!

If you love Bahamian cuisine, then this should be your first stop. The food is always fresh, tasty, and authentic. One of my favorite spots while on the beach, especially when I’m in a hurry. The service is quick and friendly. I enjoyed everything here. Its rumored that chef has added a ton of new items! Check out our review below:
The Licking South Beach
