ATLANTA, GA – I rarely order Alfredo pasta because the sauce is usually boring.
Crabman305 Atlanta, located at 27 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30305, is one of the few exceptions, a chef able to create a memorable seafood Alfredo pasta by jazzing up the flavor with soulful seasoning. This version included tenderly prepared white, and garlic flavored shrimp and lobster woven throughout a perfectly prepared Fettuccine pasta (one of my favorites because its flat shape allows each noodle to sop of as much sauce as possible).
The broiled lobster had a classic opaque color with tender butter and garlic flavored white meat that paired beautifully with the shrimp and pasta.
Following the pasta was a classic dish of baked Atlantic salmon with steamed garlic broccoli and butter. The salmon separated easily because of its great texture and a semi-translucent flakiness. Texture trumps flavor with salmon because a tough or undercooked consistency can ruin your experience even if the taste is on point. Thankfully, the salmon was smoky, with garlic, onion, and hints of black pepper for a fleeting but noticeable spice.
The broccoli was standard with butter and garlic, but slightly soggy.
Next up was the fried conch. A Bahamian staple, this sea snail tastes like salmon and shrimp had a baby but found out that the true daddy was escargot. The flavor is mild with the batter truly providing the taste. It was delicious dipping it in their house made sauce with a squeeze of lemon.
Finally, we had their flavorful crab and shrimp boil. The crab meat was flavored through and through with an extra seasoned butter dipping sauce that added great value to the overall dish.
The co-owner himself was the chef that day and I was told he is the best cook. If you visit, ask if Chef Darrin is there.
